AI can help organize notes, suggest questions and improve unclear sentences. It cannot supply experience you do not have or make an unverified vacancy genuine. Keep a clear boundary between assistance with expression and the evidence an employer is entitled to assess.
Check the application rules first
Read the employer instructions before using AI in an application or assessment. UK JobHelp warns that employers may have specific rules about acceptable use and may reject applications that break them. Ask for clarification when a rule matters and is unclear.
Do not use hidden live assistance during an interview or test when it is not permitted. If disclosure is required, follow the requested format. Being able to generate an answer does not mean you have permission to use it in that setting.
Start from a factual evidence sheet
Write your real dates, responsibilities, tools and outcomes before asking for writing help. Mark what you personally did and what the team did. Leave an outcome unquantified when you cannot support a number.
Ask for clearer phrasing or questions about missing detail, rather than for an impressive career story. Compare every suggestion with the evidence sheet. Reject invented qualifications, employers, metrics, language ability and work authorization, even when the wording sounds plausible.
Protect information before pasting
Remove personal identifiers and confidential employer, client or colleague information from material you submit to a tool. Check the service data terms and your obligations before sharing sensitive work. A publicly available tool is not automatically an approved place for internal documents.
Use a fictionalized practice example where necessary, but do not submit that fiction as your actual experience. Keep real application documents and practice materials clearly separate so that a demonstration answer does not accidentally become a career claim.
Verify and own the final answer
JobHelp advises checking AI output for accuracy and keeping applications truthful and personal. Read the final text aloud and make sure you can explain each sentence in a follow-up conversation. Restore your own straightforward language where a rewrite has obscured the point.
Check vacancies, regulations and employer facts through their original sources. AI suggestions are leads, not current-source verification. Save the version you actually submit. The useful result is a clearer account of your own work, not an application that sounds stronger than the evidence behind it.
